Through a shadow of dim safe-lights, a split complex of tonal persona emerges from the chemistry of Timothy Black's Darkroom. The title track sports an interesting tip-toe between hip-hop and elements of experimental electronica. Fed with sparse breaks and vox filters, this track develops the possibilities of a hard working Art major.
Nineteen seconds into the fith track, there's a sweet, satisfying remenicsence of Bad Boy Records pre-track mumblings, which lifts my spirits into hopes of something appropriated but new. On the next beat, the track delves into the similar drum track that forced the forward button to continue. Redemption is found in the surprizing emergence of Dark's second persona, evoking memories of Nick Cage on Cure driven pop vibes. Injected into "Memories of S.A.L.L.I." and "End of Time," Dark begins to hit the contextual depths of his work with foot-taping rhythms and haunting vocals.
